Kinshasa, June 20, 2022: The Congolese Association for Access to Justice (CAAJ) recommends to the Heads of State and Government of the East African Community (EAC) meeting in Nairobi, within the framework of the Summit on the situation of belligerence prevailing between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, to:

  1. Create conditions for lasting peace in the East African Community (EAC) based on respect for the sovereignty of member states;
  2. Promote mutually beneficial cooperation that respects the security of member states
  3. Eradicate all hegemonic and/or annexationist tendencies, which are sources of recurrent tension between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo;
  4. To formally condemn the aggression of which the Democratic Republic of Congo is a victim on the part of Rwanda, which maintains and arms rebel movements for the destabilization of the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo;
  5. Accelerate the operationalization of the regional military force responsible for preventing and combating all hostile activities likely to disturb peace and security along the common borders. This should not include Rwanda, whose support for the M23 is unquestionable.
